With the start of factions, not many people knew what was going to happen. What new armors there was, what materials you need ETC ETC ETC.

Now that the majority of players KNOW what to expect in the market. The Prices arent going to hit high riduclous prices like at the start of nightfall. You arent going to see Steel go over 400g or even Tanned Hide or Iron go over 300 ( and to the other guy these are the basic materials you need for paragon and dervish armor )

My prove is from the posters above. A ton of people saved up there materials in hope of Factions insane amount of Influxed materials prices. Granted the prices are going to rise but not to the levels of first week factions.

And stocking up on basic materials is just plain dumb, when you can stock up on something better MINATOUR HORNS!!!!!!! That is right i said it, Minatour horns. These lovely little horns cost 5 to make an armor. That armor can salavage into around 22-26 materials at one time, or even 4-7 rare materials depending on what kit you use.

So while you have All those slots with 250 materials per stack. A stack of Minatour horns can hold up to more then twice the material per stack. And the benefit is that i can CHOOSE which material i want to go for (tanned, iron, wood, cloth, bone, ETC)

Just my 2 cents on materials and what the prices are going to hold for the start of nightfall.

P.S. simple soultion to when to sell...... When you think the price is high
SHHHH. Dont tell people about how leetsuace Collectors Armor is

All of my old characters have their armors already. I will only be buying my mesmer some 15k and I will be making a new ele. That greatly reduces my "need" for materials. All of my materials that I don't need to use will be sold.

I'm only looking to make about an 8X profit, which is why I bought in bulk. I spent about 150k, so even if I only sell at 3x what I bough, (and since I paid mostly 8g ea, I highly doubt that) I will still make a nice penny. I'm expecting to make at least 10x on basic crafting material though, and around 7x on rare.

I have good news for all of you wondering what will happen upon release. If you have stocked up on materials such as tanned hides, leather and steel, you will make profit. There will be so many kiddies and working ppl who haven't planned ahead that the overall economy of GW will inflate for a short time. Don't get to excited at the first price spikes and sell all your stuff. just keep track of prices and you will come out on top.

I have over 2 million gold worth of the projected armor materials at current low prices. I will most likely be making 4 million this coming weekend. When I am done selling I will invest 100k in dwarven ale. So the drinks will be on me.

Cheers to good investments in Guild Wars!

Well, during the preview event, I remember that all THS were sold out and Iron was bought at 200g per 10... Consider this was because people needed to buy armor that needed 30-50 materials. Now consider that these people now want to buy max armor in Kamadan, for 200-250 materials each...

Not to mention... HEROES NEED RUNES, especially minor vigor runes.

/cheers

I didn't stock up on materials to sell them for profit. I simply bought 250 hides for pagagon armor and put them into storage. That should be enough for a few armor sets. I don't care about getting nightfall armor for my old character or getting 15k fancy armor for any characters(all my pve chars have 1.5k or collector armor).

Imagine if there is no storage on newbie island on release until you get to the mainland lol...

Oh man won't that throw a spanner in all the money makers schemes with plans for lining their pockets with newbie gold.

But i'll take a note of all you profiteering buisnessmen just in case i run out of stuff and need your help

The only materials I ever bothered holding on to (over and above the 250 in Material Storage) is cloth and tanned hide. I'm not planning on selling them at outrageous prices at all, and I collected them mainly for myself. I have so much cloth though that I'll be happy to sell it to alliance members for normal prices... Most of what I've collected: Materials, Runes, Green weapons, are all for personal use primarily.

I will be interested to see what the "market" does when NF is released. I bought factions a month after it's release so I've never had all this...umm...excitement before!

.. after reading all of this, I hope hope hope hope HOPE Anet pulls a "GOTCHA" upon release and changes the material components of the armor.

Sure, we've all--including me--have been stocking up on everything, but I made it a point to stock up on tanned hides the most.

Man, that sure would be funny.

Hell, here's hoping they release a new component.

yeah, too many people are prepared to sell rediculous ammounts of materials...

this will keep the materials market pretty regular however...there's other stuff to hoard that people will be going nuts buying.

1 account X 8 characters X 12 heroes X 5 pieces of armor = buyemup now

i have been and i'm sure anyone else who predicts materials to disappoint this time has been as well.

Inevitably prices will go up either way, just for the sheer number of players who will buy materials from the trader.

The most profit will occur when the merchant runs out of certain materials!... this is when you should switch to selling your materials to 'WTB Materials' peeps.

However, Money SAVED is also money EARNED!

rather than sell these materials you may actually want to keep them for your own characters, very often during factions I found myself selling materials, only to realise that I wanted them back to make some armor for other characters..

What will interest me personally is the price on Amber and Jade!... not as many people will be farming it (because they will be playing nightfall) so I suspect it will be a better time to sell the jade and amber stocks I have been hoarding

The material trader running out will keep prices high for the first few days, after that prices will start to pan out and drop. But then too I suspect a lot of people have been stocking up and some at least have maxed common materials storage. Given that and how much easier it is to get common and rare crafting material in Cantha compared to Tryia a lot have a nice amount.

Yes, but nobody will want it, either, because everyone would be after Nightfall armor...

Same thing happened to FoW armor on factions release. Ectos dropped to 4-4.5k and shards to 2k for a few days because everyone was after the new high-end stuff.

In the preview, merchants ran out of tanned hides the first day. ANet downloaded a change that gave the materials merchants unlimited inventories, but they weren't buying any materials, only selling.

It's possible that they will handle things in a similar manner for the first week, to prevent the economy going to pot.

If you'll notice, this post has been viewed about 1,500 times as of the time im posting this, which means far more ppl realize wat will happen to the price of materials when Nightfall is released. More people will be prepared is my guess, but there now will be more Sunspears to equip, cuz you'll also have heroes now that need armor. Also, some people who were clueless during the Factions release and have heard about what is predicted to happen, have only saved maybe 200 of each material or even less. If you've hoarded a lot, then you'll still come out on top, as long as you chose the right materials. Personally, I have 1,500 steel, 12 stacks of iron, 22 stacks of wood (some was made into parchment already), and 8 stacks of THS. Sure, I've got many of all the other materials, just not as much; I doubt they'll be used as much. Good luck to everyone, however, and don't get too excited when prices go up twice the normal. Be patient, and you're already doing better than half the GW community attempting to make money here.

True people are going to be more prepared. However those who actually farmed all their materials are going to make money no matter what. even if the merchant doubles in price i'll make 7k a stack on hide so 7k x 60 stack =420k profit on hide alone.

What i cant hold i plan to store in more ecto or black dye. all in all 2-3 mil should be made worst case. I also hate dealing with people on the market so i will deal directly with merchants then go rune farming.

I do not believe in price gouging like so many did in factions release. There is no need for it especially when 40-50% will be newb players and gold is not nor has it ever been hard to make as long as you have 1 farmer built.

I hope the price hike stops at double so i make exactly what i want to make and the people dont get screwed by the greedy people with piss poor morals.
Which is another reason for me to sell to merchant and drive prices down to a resonable level.

but good luck to all and let the trade wars begin.

Hero armor will not require materials. It's free, permanent, and upgraded automatically as they gain levels. Unless Anet has decided to change it in the last minute (unlikely).
